Sarasota, FL – July 1, 2019…Florida Cancer Specialists (FCS) Foundation is proud to announce that Florida Cancer Specialists physicians, Dr. R. Waide Weaver, and Dr. David D. Wright will serve as honorary co-chairs of its annual fundraising Gala in Tampa. The Southern State of Kind will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019, from 6 – 11 pm at the Armature Works, 1910 North Ola Avenue, Tampa, Florida.
This year, the event theme is Southern Chic and will feature a country music band, line dancing, chance drawing for a Holland America Line® cruise, as well as live and silent auctions. All proceeds will benefit the FCS Foundation, which provides financial assistance for non-medical living expenses to qualified cancer patients who are currently undergoing treatment in Florida. Due to the generosity of the FCS physicians, 100% of donations for events such as the “Southern State of Kind” and other fundraising efforts go toward patient grants.
When asked about his role as honorary co-chair, Dr. R. Waide Weaver said, “It is inspiring to be a part of this special evening. I am truly in awe by the strength that cancer patients exhibit. Bringing an event to the community that makes a difference in the lives of patients and their families who are affected by cancer is immensely gratifying.”
Dr. David Wright added, “As an oncologist, I see the impact cancer has on patients and their families daily. It’s an honor to be a co-chair for this event to raise funds that will directly benefit them. The Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation helps with everyday living expenses so that patients can concentrate on fighting cancer.”
FCS Foundation Board Chair Dr. Michael Diaz said, “Since 2012, the Foundation has continued to grow, and each year the number of cancer patients we can help has increased. Cancer patients should not have to choose between paying their rent or utilities and paying for their treatment. The Foundation’s work helping patients who are undergoing cancer treatment and need financial assistance is a mission I support and believe in strongly.”
Event tickets are $225 per person or $2,000 for a table of 10, and include beverages, hors d’oeuvres, dinner, entertainment, and dancing. Event sponsorships are available. Gala tickets and sponsorships can be purchased on the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation’s website atFoundation.FLCancer.com/Kind19 or by calling (941) 677.7184.
